Describe yourself using a book title: A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
What’s the best thing about being a librarian? The adventure of seeking answers to problems (and learning new information along the way)!
What are you currently reading? Resources on: racial reconciliation, hiking, phone-based gaming, enacting library hospitality, leadership, a couple fantasy novels, and Salt. by Nayyirah Waheed
Describe ACL in three words: Professional, Relational, Encouraging
How do you, as an academic librarian, contribute to your campus? My team and I create an information climate that makes it possible for faculty and students to conduct academic research in a hospitable environment!
I began my career as a librarian...by complete accident. I took a capstone course to finish up my undergraduate major; the course required me to make a resume and a cover letter, get a suit, and complete a mock interview. I worked in my university library for 4 years as a student, so I used that experience to create my resume. I then had my mock interview with the head of my university’s HR department – who offered me an actual library job after my mock interview, which I gladly accepted!
How were you introduced to ACL? I heard about ACL from other library professionals – and I’m so glad for it!
What do you value about ACL? I value ACL’s commitment to professionally developing Christian librarians, by providing librarians with quality places to disseminate scholarship and to enact service, and to do those things in a way that explicitly fosters meaningful relationships!
