Anderson University and the Thrift Library invite applications for a 12-month, full-time administrative faculty member as Education Librarian. Job Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish each of the below duties satisfactorily:

  • Develops, maintains, and delivers library instructional programs for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Serves as subject specialist for all College of Education programs; collaborates with faculty to integrate information and media literacy and library resources into the curriculum.
  • Participates in collection development of print and digital education resources for the main library collection.
  • Creates and maintains subject-specific research guides and instructional materials tailored to the needs of education students and faculty.
  • Oversees the management of the Curriculum Lab and development of the K-12 library collection.
  • Serves as the Follett Destiny Administrator for the K-12 library collection.
  • Coordinates instructional activities to promote the use of the Curriculum Lab with teacher education candidates.
  • Collaborates with Anderson County Library System’s children’s and young adult librarians to promote relevant resources and educational programming.
  • Serves on the Teacher Education Committee.
  • Maintains familiarity with scholarly communications for teaching, learning, and research.
  • Provides reference and research assistance both in person and virtually.
  • Participates in professional development for the purpose of continuing education and contributing to the profession.
  • Actively demonstrates leadership by participating in professional responsibilities that serve the Thrift Library, Anderson University, the profession, and the community.

Educational/Experiential Requirements

Qualified candidates will hold a master’s degree in library and information science. Candidates currently enrolled in and working toward completion of a master’s degree in library and information science may be considered. Experience as a K-12 teacher and school librarian is preferred. A high level of comfort and proficiency in information and media literacy, electronic resources, library technologies, and integrated library systems is desired. Ability to work independently, prioritize among multiple competing projects, manage complex workflows, and sustain a high level of attention to detail is essential.
