Job Summary
The adjunct Research Services Librarian assists with the library’s general research and instruction program to the entire campus community, including distance education faculty and students; in addition, the librarian provides targeted outreach and library support to assigned academic units. This position assists in the development and maintenance of a consistent, comprehensive array of information literacy-focused asynchronous online learning objects (e.g., FAQ, research guides, tutorials, videos). The librarian also provides on-demand research assistance and instruction. Opportunities exist for the librarian to pursue other areas of professional interest, such as scholarly communications, open educational resources, etc. This remote, adjunct faculty position is contracted for 6 NTE (non-teaching equivalents) semester hours during the fall and spring semesters and reports to the Director of the Library.
Job Responsibilities
- Assists with the development, implementation, and assessment of the library’s curricular and co-curricular information literacy program
- Creates custom online learning resources and tools, including videos, tutorials, research guides, FAQ, etc.
- Provides research assistance and instruction in various settings (classroom, workshops) using various communication channels (text, chat, email, phone, video conferencing)
- Engages with assigned academic units to provide and promote library services and resources
- All other duties as assigned
Educational/Experiential Requirements
- ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS
- Previous experience in an academic library
- Previous teaching experience
- Familiarity with relevant technology and instructional technology
- Commitment to teaching excellence and to the mission of a liberal arts college
- A strong work ethic with commitment to continuous improvement
