Job Summary

The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Archivist to manage, organize, and safeguard our historical records. As an Archivist, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our archives, ensuring the long-term preservation of valuable materials, and supporting our research and educational initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and preserve a diverse collection of archival materials
  • Implement an organized system for easy access and retrieval
  • Oversee digital archiving and preservation efforts
  • Assist researchers and the public with reference services
  • Develop exhibits and outreach programs to promote our archives
  • Collaborate with departments and support archival needs
  • Identify funding sources and assist in grant writing
  • Provide leadership to the archival team, including volunteers

Educational/Experiential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in History, Library Science, or a related field
  • 2-3 years of archival experience, preferably in a non-profit or religious organization
  • Proficiency in archival software, with a preference for PastPerfect
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and preserving fragile materials
