Graduate & E-Resources Librarian – Taylor University – Upland, IN

Job Summary

The Graduate and E-Resources Librarian provides specialized research expertise to students and faculty in Taylor’s graduate programs. The Graduate and E-Resources Librarian will develop and implement strategic initiatives that enhance research, scholarship, and innovation within Taylor’s Graduate School community. In addition to graduate research services, the Graduate and E-Resources Librarian directly supports the research, teaching, and learning mission of Zondervan Library by supervising the continuing resources lifecycle management and workflows, including acquisition, renewals, licensing, discovery, access, maintenance, and evaluation. The incumbent works to ensure access to and support for robust and innovative collections, efficient and careful acquisition of online resources, and effective engagement with colleagues across the library and externally with consortia and vendors. Sixty percent of this position is dedicated to graduate student research support with forty percent dedicated to the library’s electronic continuing resources.

Job Responsibilities

This position is primarily responsible to:

  1. Testify to personal experience of salvation in Jesus Christ, affirm belief in the University’s Statement of Faith, abide by and practice our Life Together Covenant, and both personally agree with and support the Foundational Documents of Taylor University.
  2. Serve as the primary point of contact for library related questions from graduate students and faculty.
  3. Develop and manage innovative services and resources that support the research needs of Taylor’s graduate students and faculty.
  4. Conduct workshops and one-on-one consultations to assist graduate students with effective research strategies.
  5. Coordinate with faculty and the Library Director to select and manage e-resources for graduate programs and individual graduate courses.
  6. Coordinate the e-resource workflows of licensing, purchase, renewal, and analysis.
  7. Create, audit, and analyze data to support and inform collection development and budgetary decisions and to communicate data to the Library Director.
  8. Liaison with PALNI Knowledge Base and License Manager Librarian to support user access and discovery of e-resources.
  9. Coordinate with PALNI to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with a variety of remote access and authentication products (EZProxy, WMS).
  10. Serve as primary vendor contact for configuration and e-resource support issues.
  11. Collaborate with the Access Services unit to manage the library website including content creation and overall design within the LibGuides platform.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

Educational/Experiential Requirements

  1. A personal, vibrant faith and Christian walk and strong commitment to the University’s educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation.
  2. Affirmation of the Taylor University Life Together Covenant, Statement of Faith, and essential documents.
  3. An MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution.
  4. 3-5 years academic library experience in reference, research, and instructional services.
  5. Experience assisting doctoral or masters’ level students working on a thesis or dissertation.
  6. Knowledge of e-resource management including familiarity with maintaining proxy software, e.g. EZProxy.
  7. Familiarity with licensing, configuring, and troubleshooting electronic resources.
  8. Familiarity working within a consortia environment.
  9. Additional advanced degree, preferred.
