Job Summary
The Northwest University Library is seeking a full-time faculty librarian to enhance library services and access to academic resources. This role provides reference, instruction, and outreach activities, building strong relationships with the University community through both in-person and online communications. Responsibilities include preservation, organization, access, and description of materials in the Northwest University Archives, maintenance of electronic resources, and participation in interlibrary loan. The Reference Librarian functions as part of the library management team under the leadership of the Library Director. Candidates must possess a meaningful commitment to Jesus Christ, the Church, and the gospel.
Job Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Plan, develop, and provide reference services both in-person and online.
- Provide information literacy programs and classroom instruction as needed by on-site and off-site faculty and students.
- Conduct orientation sessions for new students and faculty.
- Develop and maintain written and multimedia content for library website, Northwest University Archives website, and communications of services and collections to students and faculty.
- Oversee the NU Archives, including selection and arrangement of collections, metadata and digitization standards, and preservation of digital materials.
- Maintain and improve access to electronic resources through regular updates, troubleshooting, and link correction.
- Perform collection development for select academic subjects and work with Library Director to formulate collection policy.
- Process interlibrary loan borrowing and lending.
- Participate in the governance functions of the university as assigned.
Educational/Experiential Requirements
- Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- Experience with the provision of reference and instruction services in a college or university environment.
- Experience with web content and video creation.
- Experience with web publishing platforms such as WordPress and DSpace.
- Knowledge of or experience with user experience principles and accessibility standards preferred.
- Experience in electronic resources, interlibrary loan, or archives preferred.
- Excellent written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Compensation $63,938 – $78,330: Dependent on education and experience. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and aligned with the university’s administrative faculty salary scale.
