Job Summary
- JOB TITLE: Library Assistant
- DEPARTMENT: Academic Affairs
- EFFECTIVE DATE: July 2026
- FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
- HOURS WORKED: 20-24 hours per week; M-F during regular library open hours.
This is a part-time in person staff position responsible for planning and managing library events as well as assisting with financial record keeping and basic library tasks. As a vital part of a small team, the Library Assistant may also be assigned special projects that align with the skills of the individual.
Job Responsibilities
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
- Record, submit, and reconcile library expenses and revenue.
- Order and receive shipments.
- Assist with reference services.
- Plan, implement, and assess library events, including semi-annual author events.
- Communicate with potential authors for events.
- Coordinate authors’ travel, accommodations and itinerary.
- Prepare the physical space(s) on campus where the author will speak.
- Work with other departments (academics, marketing, IT, events) to coordinate event details.
- Plan other seasonal library events. · As time and training allow, assist with other basic library or office tasks.
- REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Troubleshooting abilities
- Basic bookkeeping skills
Educational/Experiential Requirements
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Eagerness and intellectual ability to learn ILS (Integrated Library System) technology
- Strong relational skills
- Agreement and personal alignment with the Crown College statement of faith and willingness to abide by the Crown College Community Covenant
- PREFERRED (BUT NOT REQUIRED) QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters of Library & Information Science (M.L.I.S or MSLIS) degree
- Event planning experience
- Previous library experience
- Intermediate or advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Teams
